Kevin E. Wilk, PT, DPT

Dr. Kevin Wilk has lead a distinguished career as a clinical physical therapist for the past 23 years, as a leading authority in rehabilitation of sports injuries and orthopaedic lesions. He has been significant contributions to laboratory research, biomechanical research and clinical outcome studies.

Kevin Wilk has been a physical therapist, researcher and educator for more than 20 years. Kevin is currently Clinical Director for Champion Sports Medicine (a  Physiotherapy Facility) in Birmingham, AL.. He is also Vice President of Education for Physiotherapy. In addition, he is the Director of Rehabilitative Research at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham and is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Kevin is also the Rehabilitation Consultant for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ Baseball Team. 

Dr. Wilk received his physical therapy from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL., and his DPT from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of HealthCare Professions in Boston, MA.

Dr. Wilk has published over 110 journal articles, over 70 book chapters and has lectured at over 360 professional and scientific meetings. Kevin is on the review boards of 7 journals. Dr Wilk has received numerous professional awards. In 2004, Kevin received the prestigious Ron Peyton Award for career achievement from the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA.  He has received the James Andrews Award for achievement in the area of Baseball science. Kevin has given Grand Rounds at several medical facilities and has lectured internationally. He has edited 6 textbooks, The Athletes’ Shoulder, Rehabilitation of the Injured Athlete (2nd Ed.), Injuries in Baseball, Orthopaedic Rehabilitation(2nd Ed.) Handbook of Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (2nd Ed.) ,and The Orthopaedic Toolbox (2nd Ed.).

Dr. Wilk was recently elected as President of the Sports Section of the APTA, and has served as Vice-President, Education Program Chairman and Editor of the Home Study Course for the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA for 7 years and has served on numerous committees for the APTA. Kevin was the first non-physician named to a committee for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).

Kevin is a clinician, researcher, and educator and is generally regarded as one of the leading sports physical therapists experts in the evaluation and
treatment of shoulder, knee, and elbow joint injuries. He is active daily with patient care, research  & educational activities.

Michael M. Reinold, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC, CSCS

Dr. Michael M. Reinold, PT, DPT, SCS, ATC, CSCS is considered a leader in the field of sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.  As a physical therapist, athletic trainer, and certified strength and conditioning specialist, Michael specializes in all aspects of care of shoulder, elbow, and knee disorders.  He has worked extensively with a variety of professional athletes with emphasis on the care of throwing injuries in baseball players.  In addition to his clinical work, he has made significant academic contributions in the form of laboratory research, biomechanical research, and clinical outcome studies.

Dr. Reinold is currently the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Director of Medical Services of the Boston Red Sox Baseball Club.  He is also the Coordinator of Rehabilitation Research and Education of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine Division, of Massachusetts General Hospital at the MGH Sports Center in Boston, MA.  Michael was formerly the Facility Director of Champion Sports Medicine and the Coordinator of Rehabilitative Research & Clinical Education at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, AL.

Dr. Reinold received his B.S. in physical therapy from Northeastern University and his Doctorate in physical therapy from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, both in Boston, MA.  He is a board certified specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.  He also graduated from the postprofessional sports physical therapy fellowship program of the American Sports Medicine Institute, in Birmingham, AL, under the direction of Kevin E. Wilk, PT, DPT, James R. Andrews, MD, and Glenn S. Fleisig, PhD.  He is also certified as a Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Reinold has published over 50 journal articles and book chapters in publications such as AJSM and JOSPT. Michael is on the International Review Board of the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies and the review boards of 4 journals including JOSPT and AJSM.  He recently guest edited a special issue of JOSPT on articular cartilage and meniscal lesions of the knee. He was also an associate editor of Sports Medicine and Performance Magazine.  Michael has also edited several books including The Athlete's Shoulder, 2nd Edition, Conditioning Programs for Baseball Pitchers, Preventative and Rehabilitative Exercises for the Upper Extremity, and Preventative and
Rehabilitative Exercise for the Lower Extremity. Michael has been featured in several local and national publications such as Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, ESPN, Men's Health Magazine, Fast Company Magazine, The Boston Globe, and The Boston Herald.

Dr. Reinold is currently speaking at various seminars and national meetings including past presentations at the annual APTA, NATA, and ACSM conferences and an invited lecture at Harvard University. Michael has served as a rehabilitation consultant for several companies such as Genzyme Biosurgery and Empi and is the Director of Education of the Advanced Continuing Education Institute, an educational company that provides seminars and products for rehabilitation specialists.  He also has a physical therapy blog and website for rehabilitation specialists.

Dr. Reinold is active in his professional societies including the American Physical Therapy Association, National Athletic Trainers Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society, ICCUS Society, and the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society.  Michael has been awarded the 2004 New Horizons award and the 2002 Excellence in Research award by the Sport Physical Therapy Section of the APTA.
